being developed by CW4K, or Creative Writing 4 Kids. They are the company behind a website that enables children to create and publish their own stories online. In its first year it has signed up over 2000 members and has been enthusiastically received by children, parents and teachers. In fact the response has been so encouraging that they are planning a huge expansion of its services. Embedding The Author Hotline into the site is part of that expansion...

Q: What were you like at school?
I went to four different schools - liked some hated others and was a different sort of person in each school. But I always hated sport.

Railway steam engine driver- children wanted to do that sort of thing when I was young.(Actually, I still do.)

I arrange everything on my (very large) desk every day. I can't start writing until I have done this and the CDs (I listen to music sometimes when I write) have to be at right angles to the computer towers.

Being in command of a sailing ship - unfortunately I get sea sick, but I can dream.

Yes when a teacher at schoolsent my poem to a national competition and it won.
