being developed by CW4K, or Creative Writing 4 Kids. They are the company behind a website that enables children to create and publish their own stories online. In its first year it has signed up over 2000 members and has been enthusiastically received by children, parents and teachers. In fact the response has been so encouraging that they are planning a huge expansion of its services. Embedding The Author Hotline into the site is part of that expansion...

Q: What were you like at school?
I'd say that I was quiet, unless I knew you. I was very smart. I had a good amount of friends.I loved recess and hop schotch was my favorite game.
Q: What did you want to be when you were a child?
I wanted to be a nurse, a model and a travel the world.
Q: Which three words describe you best?
strong, reserved, hilarious
Q: What is your favourite word?
fantabulous
Q: What makes you cringe?
bloody things, insects
Q: What are you afraid of?
some insects, dogs, all snakes.
Q: When did you last have a really good laugh?
last night when I was teasing a friend of mine.
Q: What is your most treasured possession?
My son.
Q: What do you do as a hobby?
read, travel, watch tv.
Q: What strange habits do you have?
I like to read certain things from the last page backwards. I love eating ice cream when I'm cold. Crossing my eyes and turning my nose up at people when being silly.
Q: What’s your favourite food?
Chocolate, yes I know it's not an actual food, but I loveeee chocolate.
Q: What do you day dream about?
My 1st book tour, and seeing my son graduate from college.
Q: What’s the most outrageous thing you’ve done?
I went to West Africa not personally knowing anyone. I found the ministry online and conversed with the Owner of the mission organization and I went alone.
Q: What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
Psychology, Speech Pathology, and Translator but I only speak english.
Q: Do you feel younger or older than your current age?
Definately younger.
Q: If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be?
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Q: What quality do you most admire in a person?
Integrity. because a person with integrity will not lie, cheat, or steal. You can take that person at his/her word.
Q: What is the most interesting place you have ever visited?
West Africa. I couldn't chose just one country
Q: What is the best advice anyone has ever given you?
Pray about everything. Never give up on GOD, no matter how tough it seems.
Q: What would you most like to change about yourself?
My weight, which I am curently working on.
Q: What has life taught you?
There is a purpose for everything you go through. Everyone has value. Nobody is perfect
Q: How long have you been a writer?
I've been writing since I was 14 years old. But recently decided to publish.
Q: Was there a specific moment in your life when you decide to become a writer?
I was 14 years old. A situation didn't play out like I wanted it to so I wrote it out the way I wanted it to. From that moment on I've been writing.
Q: Where do you do your writing?
On my bed, on a chair, any quite place.
Q: What are the best and worst things about being an author?
The best thing is, writing and hearing how my novel made the reader laugh, cry or rethink a situation. I love reading how much a reader loves/hates the characters. The reactions I get from certain characters makes it all worth it, because that is exactly what I was going for when O wrote the characters. The worst thing is....I haven't had a worst thing as of today. GOD willing I wont have a worst thing.
Q: Where do you get your greatest ideas from?
My life and divine inspiration.
Q: Which of your own characters do you most identify with?
Definitely Jewel.
Q: What do you do to combat “writers’ block”?
I've never had writers' block. I love to write. Even if it's not for the current novel I'm working on. Ideas come for future works.
Q: What was your favourite book as a child?
I didn't have a favorite book
Q: What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Don't allow anyone to destroy your dream. Write, write, write, even when it doesn't make sense. Write and save it because it will all fall into line eventually.
