being developed by CW4K, or Creative Writing 4 Kids. They are the company behind a website that enables children to create and publish their own stories online. In its first year it has signed up over 2000 members and has been enthusiastically received by children, parents and teachers. In fact the response has been so encouraging that they are planning a huge expansion of its services. Embedding The Author Hotline into the site is part of that expansion...

Q: What were you like at school?
I was very shy, sporty and giggly!
Q: What did you want to be when you were a child?
As a little girl I dreamt of becoming a ballerina; later a gymnast as I liked climbing trees, and finally as a teenager, discovered that I was very good at drawing and painting. I settled with the idea of becoming an artist.
Q: When did you last have a really good laugh?
Today in class, when asked a student to put headphones away. He proudly suggested to listen to some of his music, which I did. The music was good but a bit retro, quite old for his age; my 91 year old granny would love it! I told him that he has a good taste in music!
Q: What is your most treasured possession?
Three stones from the beach.
Q: What do you do as a hobby?
Sport such as swimming, running and yoga. Making clothes, prints, colagges and going to tango lessons.

Dancing and coking

Q: What is the most interesting place you have ever visited?
All places I’ve visited were interesting. But I only remember places if I’d had a good company.

To be able to focus on one thing at a time, to think like a man!

To be kind is more important than to be clever!
