being developed by CW4K, or Creative Writing 4 Kids. They are the company behind a website that enables children to create and publish their own stories online. In its first year it has signed up over 2000 members and has been enthusiastically received by children, parents and teachers. In fact the response has been so encouraging that they are planning a huge expansion of its services. Embedding The Author Hotline into the site is part of that expansion...

I have been writing stories since I was about 6
Q: Was there a specific moment in your life when you decide to become a writer?
Not really - I wrote my first children's book when my daughter was 2, and it just carried on from there.

Mostly in my studio - but I carry a notebook around with me - and I will write down ideas wherever I am.

The peace... The silence.

Eat, make coffee, clean the kitchen floor, go for a run, trawl the internet (obviously for research!) eat, make tea, go on youtube (obviously for research)...eat, make hot chocolate etc etc These displacements are much worse at the beginning of a book...
