The Author Hotline
is
being developed by CW4K, or Creative Writing 4 Kids. They are the company behind a website that enables children to create and publish their own stories online. In its first year it has signed up over 2000 members and has been enthusiastically received by children, parents and teachers. In fact the response has been so encouraging that they are planning a huge expansion of its services. Embedding The Author Hotline into the site is part of that expansion...

Q: What were you like at school?
I always tried hard and wanted to do well.
Q: What did you want to be when you were a child?
A super hero with special powers.
Q: What is your favourite word?
I’ve always liked the word serendipity and its meaning.
Q: When did you last have a really good laugh?
On holiday with my family.
Q: What’s your favourite food?
I’ve always loved Italian food. And I have a sweet tooth. In fact, I'll try anything, I love my food.
Q: What do you day dream about?
Living in the middle of the countryside, surrounded by beautiful scenery and growing vegetables with some chickens scratching around.
Q: What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
Any profession that would allow me to be creative.
Q: Do you feel younger or older than your current age?
I always feel younger than my age because I never really grew up.
Q: If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be?
Roger McGough because I love his poetry and he inspired me.
Q: What quality do you most admire in a person?
Kindness.
Q: What is the most interesting place you have ever visited?
India.
Q: Was there a specific moment in your life when you decide to become a writer?
On the train home one afternoon I started shaping a story in my mind that went on to become my first picture book - Lila and the Secret of Rain.

In my shed or at the kitchen table.

The Enchanted Wood by Enid Blyton
Q: What book do you wish you had written?
As a picture book author Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin. More generally, Summer with Monika by Roger McGough.

Keep at it and never give up.
